This is me.

Hey! I am the original Metal Head Knitter. I live in Alaska and I love to knit. Unlike most knitting bloggers out there, I am an intermediate knitter. I have only been knitting things other than My Little Pony items for my little sister for a year now. I just learned to cable and I am knitting my first pair of socks. I am not the most talented knitter out there, so my blog might be a bit boring. But I will try to find new knitting related topics to post and review.
My dad calls me the metal head knitter because of my tendency to pull out a pair of gloves and my iPod during, say a Taekwondo tournament and rock out to Switchfoot and Skillet. Yes I listen to Skillet and I am a Christian.
Anyway, I am fairly young, I will not reveal my age due to security reasons. This may be a problem for some of you out there, but hey I am a one of a kind knitter that may have some interesting opinions. One thing that will be a problem is the fact that I will not be publishing any photos of my family, friends or myself for that matter. Later on I will rant about my security prefs.
I know that I have been somewhat stunted in my knitting growth, so you will see me grow as a knitter and as a girl.
Now I can actually tell you why the heck I’m doing this. I want to make it known that teens are knitting and it is important to allot of us. Here’s a list why I think that teens should and why we knit.
1.It keeps us off the streets and gives us an addiction other than drugs.
2. It gives us a better social life.
3.It opens up gift giving ideas.
4.It makes us feel very romantic, even those who don’t have a romantic mind (like me).
5.A lot of the stars are doing it.
Now the last one isn’t really a good reason in my opinion (hey, I was knitting before anyone really thought it was cool), but it is a reason why teens are knitting. That’s not the problem, the problem is, the media refuses to acknowledge that it is a boom among teens.
I love Knit Picks and their podcast, I , in fact, subscribe to it. But Mrs. Petkun never talks about teen knitters. I even put a comment on the website and it hasn’t been acknowledged to my knowledge. They talk about “young knitters” or kids who knit, but that comment is a major variable in my opinion. There aren’t many books out there that appeal to teen knitters and the ones that do are fantastic! Please, we want more! Books for teens with not allot of knitting time or short attention spans are great!
Anyway, that’s one of my rants. There’ll be more, trust me. I’ll also be reviewing books, podcasts, blogs, and brand new music from the artists I love. I’ll have a thing at the top of my blog that will be called “Now Playing”. This will be the music I’ve been listening to lately.
Thanks!
Strider
